Travel Information

When you arrive you will appreciate that one of the reasons eCALA is on Pátmos is that the island does not have an airport; the tranquillity and energy you feel here is enhanced by this. So the last leg of your journey to eCALA will be by boat (you can’t really say you have been to the Greek islands without experiencing a Greek ferry!) – it’s a smooth journey if planned well.

You should arrange your arrival to and departure from eCALA for a Sunday. We will collect you from Pátmos’ port in Skala. If you need to arrive or depart a day or two either side of Sunday because of flight-ferry connections, please let us know as we may be able to help with planning.

We provide some information below for those of you who want to book your own travel. If you need further information and advice just ask.

If you prefer to use a travel agent, we recommend Astoria Travel, based here on Pátmos. Astoria Travel are experts on every variation of getting you here and we have found that they can often book things at better prices, especially if you want or need accommodation on Kos or the other islands.

To get to Pátmos you fly into Athens or one of the neighbouring islands Leros, Samos, Kalymnos, Rhodes or Kos, then take a ferry. You can fly directly to Rhodes and Kos from many European cities. Leros, Samos and Kalymnos usually require a flight via Athens, though the ferry to Pátmos is then only around 1 hour from these islands.

Most people find the easiest connection via Kos as you can fly there directly and relatively inexpensively from many European cities and it’s then only 2 hours on the catamaran or 3 hours on the colossus.

From Kos airport you can take a taxi to the port (€38) or there is a bus that leaves following the arrival of most daytime flights (€3.20). The trip takes around 25 minutes by taxi and 40 minutes with the bus. For the bus timetable click here (scroll down for ‘From Airport to Mastichari-Kos’).

And for OpenSeas’ ferry timetables click here  (Note: OpenSeas charge a small agent’s fee, which you can avoid by booking directly on your selected ferry company’s website.)
